The Independent National Electoral Commission has alerted the public to a fraudulent website masquerading as an official INEC voter registration portal, warning Nigerians not to visit the site or submit any personal information through it.
In a public notice released on Thursday, February 26, the commission said a website circulating online under the title “INEC VOTERS CARD ONLINE REGISTRATION” was not authorised by the electoral body.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission wishes to notify the general public that a website currently circulating under the title ‘INEC VOTERS CARD ONLINE REGISTRATION’ is fake, misleading, and not authorized by the Commission,” the statement read.
INEC identified the fraudulent link as https://cvr-inec-online.blogspot.com, stating categorically that it did not create, approve, or endorse the website.
“The Commission did not originate, approve, or endorse the following link,” INEC said, adding that “members of the public are strongly advised not to visit the site or submit any personal information through the link, as it is fraudulent.”

The commission clarified that its only official Continuous Voter Registration portal is https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/Public/getStarted, which provides services including updating voter registration information, transferring registration to another polling unit, replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, and locating registration centres for first-time voters.
“The public is urged to disregard the fraudulent link and remain vigilant against misinformation and online scams,” INEC said.
The commission provided telephone lines for further enquiries: 09050858629, 09050858675, and 09050858649.
“INEC remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of the voter registration process,” the statement concluded.
The warning comes amid the ongoing second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which has so far recorded over 1.2 million new registrations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise, which began on January 5, 2026, is expected to run until April 2026.
