Oluremi Tinubu Honoured With Utukpa-Oritse Title In Warri Kingdom

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, was bestowed with the traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse (Ugbóné) by the leadership of the Warri Kingdom on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in recognition of her contributions to social development and cultural solidarity.

The title was conferred during a traditional ceremony at the royal palace in Delta State, presided over by Ogiame Atuwatse III, the monarch of the kingdom.

Palace officials said the designation symbolizes leadership and communal service and reflects the kingdom’s appreciation of the First Lady’s advocacy for women empowerment and youth development.

In her acceptance remarks, the First Lady expressed gratitude to the traditional council and described the honour as a responsibility to deepen her engagement with initiatives that foster cultural unity and social progress.

Traditional authorities noted that chieftaincy titles remain integral to Nigeria’s cultural institutions, serving as instruments of recognition and solidarity between communities and national leaders.

The Warri Kingdom’s gesture underscores the enduring role of traditional governance in celebrating public service and promoting cultural heritage.
