The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has officially named its permanent secretariat after First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, nearly three decades after operating without an administrative headquarters.
The building, located in Alausa, Ikeja, was declared open on Tuesday by CAN National President Daniel Okoh. Okoh praised the state chapter for its perseverance and commitment in bringing the secretariat to fruition, urging members to remain united and dedicated to Christian leadership in Lagos State.
In a goodwill message delivered by her representative, the First Lady said the completion of the secretariat resolves years of land disputes and marks a new chapter for Christians in Lagos. A floor of the complex was dedicated to Dr Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, founder of The New Seraph Evangelical Ministries, in recognition of her financial support for the project.
Rt. Rev. S.T.V. Adegbite, chairman of CAN Lagos during the project, said the secretariat symbolizes unity and administrative strength and belongs to all Christians in the state. He called on members to take ownership and ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

The complex includes multiple structures named after prominent figures, including the main office block in honour of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Bishop Stephen Adegbite Hall and Event Centre, and the CAN Chairman’s office named after Senator Tokunbo Abiru.
The commissioning of the secretariat coincided with CAN Lagos’ 2026 Annual Interdenominational Divine Service themed “Immanuel: God With Us” at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Olorunda, Ketu. At the service, Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Omidina encouraged Christians to remain steadfast amid economic and social challenges and offered prayers for peace, unity, and national development.
The unveiling consolidates CAN Lagos operations under a permanent structure for the first time in nearly 30 years and adds to a growing list of public institutions named after the First Lady since President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration in May 2023.
