Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has issued a public apology following criticism over comments regarding insecurity in the country.
His earlier remarks, which suggested that Nigeria was “safer now than it was ten years ago,” sparked backlash from citizens and advocates for victims of violent crimes.
In a video shared on social media, Seyi Law acknowledged that his statement was poorly framed and failed to reflect the experiences of Nigerians affected by kidnappings and other security challenges.
“My fellow Nigerians, I owe you this and more. You don’t deserve to have your sleep snatched away from you, and the pain of one should be the pain of all,” he said.

“I am sincerely and deeply sorry for such insensitive statement. I apologize to victims, families, and everyone who has been affected in any way by the insecurity in the country.”
The entertainer, who identified himself as a supporter of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in tackling insecurity nationwide.
“As a supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, I want to also use this opportunity to call on him to intensify efforts in the battle against insecurity,” he added.
Security concerns including kidnappings, banditry, and violent crime, remain significant issues in various parts of Nigeria, drawing public scrutiny toward both government responses and public commentary on the crisis.
Seyi Law concluded his statement with a message of unity and hope for the nation’s stability.
“God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
