Oluwo Warns Iran–Israel Tensions May Worsen Global Hardship

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has cautioned that a prolonged confrontation involving Iran, Israel and the United States could heighten global instability and place further strain on economies across many nations.

The monarch also urged Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, to place priority on peaceful engagement and diplomatic efforts as tensions persist in the Middle East.

In a statement he personally signed on Monday, the 9th of March, 2026, the traditional ruler congratulated Khamenei on assuming leadership at a time he described as critical for the international community.

Oba Akanbi said the choices made by the new leader would play a major role in shaping global peace and stability.

“Your administrative prowess is a factor to the world’s peace or otherwise,” the monarch said while acknowledging the fragile state of international relations in the region.

He also commented on recent events following the death of former Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, noting that the development had further heightened tensions.

“The world is groaning in pain. The Middle East is bleeding profusely. The pain of the gruesome assassination of the immediate past Supreme Leader of Iran cannot be forgotten in haste,” he said.

Oba Akanbi warned that ongoing conflicts were already taking a toll on global economic conditions, pointing to the effect of rising fuel prices and increasing living costs on ordinary people.

“The economy is grounded already. The struggling classes are finding it harder to eat. The price of fuel has skyrocketed and is becoming unavoidable to the already suffering people,” he added.

He urged Iran’s leadership to adopt dialogue and reconciliation as a pathway to reduce tensions and prevent further hardship for civilians.

“Embracing dialogue is not cowardice. Those who embrace peace are the true winners. If Mojtaba Khamenei says yes to peace today, the world will be peaceful,” Oba Akanbi said.
