Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has called on Muslims and Christians in the state to intensify prayers against rising insecurity.
A statement on Monday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, said Zulum, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajj, urged Muslims to use the last ten days of Ramadan to intensify prayers, especially during the night prayers (Tahajjud), for an end to the protracted insecurity affecting the state.
According to the statement, Zulum led fellow Muslims in the Holy Land in a special prayer session for lasting peace in Borno and across Nigeria.
The Governor emphasized that recent coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents should not weaken the spirit of resilience and unity needed to confront the common enemy.

“As we usher in the last ten days of the Holy month of Ramadan, let’s intensify prayers to Almighty Allah and beseech Him, through all acts of worship, to attract His mercies, blessings, and rewards,” he said.
Zulum also called on the Christian community observing Lent to join in the special prayers, describing the renewed attacks as a unifying factor in confronting the common enemy.
“It is a temporary eclipse; we shall emerge victorious, insha Allah,” he added.
While condoling with families who lost loved ones in the recent attacks, the Governor reassured that the Borno State government will continue to support the military and other security agencies to end the menace of insurgency and terrorism.
In the past five days, there have been repeated terrorist attacks in Ngoshe, Konduga, Mainok, Kukawa, Goniri, and Delwa areas of the state.
