Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano Strategic Command, have raided multiple drug joints across Kano and arrested 56 suspects, including a man linked to a five-year-old homicide case.
The arrests were made during a sustained three-day operation conducted under the agency’s ongoing “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”
The Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer of the command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to him, the operation targeted notorious drug locations in Kofar Mata, Fagge, Kasuwar Rimi, Medile, Badawa and Sabon Gari, and extended to other illicit drug points within and outside the Kano metropolis.
Maigatari said NDLEA operatives carried out coordinated raids on the identified hotspots to sustain pressure on criminal networks operating in the affected communities.
He noted that the action was aimed at disrupting drug distribution channels and restoring safety in neighbourhoods affected by drug-related activities.
During the raids, officers recovered various illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, Exhol-5, diazepam and pregabalin, as well as other controlled drugs and related paraphernalia.

The command described the seizures as a significant blow to local supply networks and a demonstration of its determination to remove dangerous drugs from circulation.
Among those arrested was 30-year-old Yunusa Yasin from the Badawa area, who was apprehended in connection with a homicide that occurred five years ago. He has been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The command reiterated its commitment to achieving a drug-free Kano in line with the agenda of the agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa.
Maigatari added that the agency would continue to conduct targeted operations and collaborate with communities to protect public health and safety.
He also urged members of the public to provide credible information on locations and individuals involved in illicit drug activities to assist the agency in sustaining its enforcement efforts across the state.
