Daniel Osa‑Ogbegie, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, resigned his membership of the party on Thursday, March 12, 2026, citing the opposition’s lack of organisation and unity.
In a statement titled “That Edo May Win,” Osa‑Ogbegie said the decision came after consultations with family, friends, and political associates.
He expressed concern over the absence of credible aspirants in the PDP and other opposition platforms as party nominations near their close in March 2026, calling the situation a matter for serious reflection.

He stressed that politics should be about serving the people and said stepping aside from his party role would allow him to contribute more effectively to public service.
He thanked party members for their collaboration but said his reassessment of the political landscape convinced him that he could make a greater impact outside the PDP platform.
Osa‑Ogbegie also praised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, describing the governor as a friend and noting that supporting effective governance ultimately benefits Edo residents.
He concluded that while political affiliations may change, the focus of leadership must remain on advancing the welfare and progress of the state.
