PICTORIAL: Troops Foil Terrorist Attacks In Borno

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks on military positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Friday night, by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, LLt. Col.Sani Uba, the attempted attacks occurred in the early hours of March 13, 2026.

The terrorists reportedly advanced in large numbers in an effort to overrun troops’ positions at Azir Bridge in Sector 2 and Banki in Sector 1.

However, the troops mounted a swift and decisive response, preventing the attackers from breaching the defensive positions.

According to the statement, the soldiers demonstrated strong tactical awareness and combat readiness during the engagements, launching coordinated counterattacks that disrupted the terrorists’ assault formations and forced them into retreat.

The operations were further supported by close air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which played a significant role in repelling the attackers.

Military authorities stated that the failed assaults contradict what they described as misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online media platforms regarding the security situation in the area.

“The troops remain firmly in control of the locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with high morale, decisive firepower and sustained offensive action against terrorist elements,” the statement said.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to defeating terrorist threats across the North-East theatre and restoring lasting peace to the region.

The Joint Task Force also reassured members of the public that security forces remain vigilant and resolute in their ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
