Tinubu Hails Elumelu at Birthday, Applauds Africapitalism Vision

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to renowned economist, banker, and philanthropist Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu as he marks his birthday on March 22.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Elumelu as “an African business icon and a standout advocate of the Nigerian and African enterprise.”

Elumelu, who chairs Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp, is also the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

Commending his achievements, the President highlighted Elumelu’s “resilience, the excellence that governs his entire enterprise and his staunch belief in Africapitalism.”

Tinubu further acknowledged the entrepreneur’s impact on youth empowerment across the continent, particularly through the foundation’s flagship entrepreneurship programme.

He noted that the initiative “has so far trained 2.5 million young Africans in 54 countries and empowered over 24,000 budding African entrepreneurs with non-refundable seed capital of $5,000 each.”

As Elumelu celebrates his birthday, the President joined family members and associates in wishing him “good health and strength and continued success in his pursuits.”
