APC Governors, Ministers Showing Fake Loyalty To Tinubu — Alwan

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Hassan Alwan, has accused some state governors and federal ministers within the ruling party of offering only superficial loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that internal divisions could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alwan made the claims on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily” on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, saying that although many governors and cabinet members publicly endorse the president, their actions often reflect personal political ambitions rather than genuine support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Despite public declarations of support, the actions of some governors and cabinet members indicate a lack of true commitment to Tinubu’s administration and policies,” Alwan said.

He noted that many officials appear more focused on positioning themselves for upcoming elections than on strengthening the party or advancing government policies.

He cautioned that this internal disloyalty could erode party unity and create openings for opposition parties to exploit, stressing the need for consistent support for the president’s agenda at all levels of government.

The comments come amid preparations by several political appointees, including ministers, to resign from federal positions ahead of the March 31, 2026, deadline mandated for those seeking elective offices in the 2027 elections.

Party leaders, however, continue to maintain that the APC remains united and capable of delivering its objectives despite emerging intra-party dynamics.
