FRSC Advises Motorists To Limit Travel And Avoid Speeding During Easter Celebration

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State has urged motorists to limit unnecessary travel and avoid speeding during the Easter period to reduce the risk of road accidents.

The Itori Unit Commander of the FRSC, Babatunde Gold, gave the advice on Thursday during an interview in Ota, stressing the need for caution as increased travel activity typically characterises festive periods.

Gold explained that the advisory was aimed at preventing avoidable loss of lives, noting that reduced movement on highways could significantly lower the chances of road crashes.

“The FRSC is appealing to motorists to, possibly, reduce their presence on the roads so that mishaps can be prevented,” he said.

He added that when travel becomes necessary, drivers should exercise caution, avoid dangerous practices such as driving against traffic, and refrain from competing with other road users.

The unit commander also emphasised the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules and ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey.

In addition, motorists were urged to cooperate with FRSC officials, who will be deployed across major routes as part of a special patrol operation designed to respond swiftly to emergencies and curb reckless driving during the festive season.

The advisory comes as the Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration across Nigeria.

Authorities say the combined efforts of road users and enforcement agencies will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and incident-free celebration.
