The Nigerian Army has intensified its response to rising insecurity in Plateau State with the deployment of over 850 additional troops to support ongoing military operations in the region.
The reinforcement was approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, following a recent surge in violent attacks, including an incident in Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North that reportedly claimed no fewer than 28 lives.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Chinonso Oteh, said the deployment is aimed at strengthening security presence and restoring stability across affected communities.
According to the statement, the additional troops will operate under Operation ENDURING PEACE, a military initiative focused on addressing security threats and maintaining order in Plateau State.
The army chief, while addressing troops at the Joint Task Force headquarters in Jos, urged them to remain professional, disciplined, and resolute in tackling criminal elements responsible for the violence.

He also assured the personnel that adequate logistical support and combat resources have been provided to enable them carry out their mission effectively.
The newly deployed troops are expected to bolster efforts to protect lives and property, as well as reassure residents amid growing concerns over safety in parts of the state.
The latest move reflects ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb violence and restore lasting peace in Plateau, a region that has experienced recurring communal and criminal attacks in recent times.
