2027: Guru Maharaji Urges Nigerians To Back Tinubu’s Re-election

The founder of the One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has urged Nigerians, regardless of their social, tribal, or political affiliations, to support the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Maharaj Ji made the call in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State, and also appealed to the Department of State Services (DSS) not to arrest the Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, over comments he reportedly made concerning the 2027 elections.

Responding to the controversy surrounding remarks attributed to Adeyemo, Maharaj Ji described him as a committed advocate for human rights.

He emphasized that the situation was being blown out of proportion and stressed that expressing strong opinions on national matters should not automatically lead to threats of arrest or intimidation.

Maharaj Ji said Adeyemo has consistently positioned himself as a defender of his people, adding that his actions and statements should be interpreted as advocacy rather than incitement.

The call for Adeyemo’s arrest came earlier in the week from the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), which, in a statement released by its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, urged the DSS to summon and, if necessary, detain him.

The warning followed a viral video and audio clip in which Adeyemo reportedly told political opponents of Tinubu, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, not to campaign in Yoruba land.

Onwubiko described the statements as “dangerous, unlawful and capable of inciting political violence.”

Speaking on Friday, Maharaj Ji highlighted the importance of free expression in a democracy. He noted that attempts to silence voices like Adeyemo’s could undermine justice, fairness, and freedom of speech.

He called on Nigerians to remain calm, avoid politicizing the controversy, and promote dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence across the country.

He stated, “We can’t sit down and watch people who are driven by religion, tribal and ethnic sentiments and complete disregard for the rule of law and acceptable national consensus and ethos on power shift and who kept mute throughout the deadly and murderous attacks by the AK47 herdsmen destroying farms, attacking farmers in Benue and Southern States in order to drive farmers from their farms to create food shortage/social incoherence and as a weapon against the governing party.

“In the light of the above, I want to call on Nigerians, irrespective of their social, tribe or political inclination, to support the reelection of President Bola Tinubu come 2027.

Mr President is more advanced in global politics than all his predecessors who talked but could not transform the wishes and the desires of the Blackman into realities.”

Maharaj Ji also commended Adeyemo for raising concerns about justice and protecting communities, describing him as a figure driven by conviction and a desire to defend the rights of the people in ways that embody peace, love, and harmony—values he likened to those of President Tinubu.

Additionally, Maharaj Ji congratulated Tinubu on his 74th birthday, praising his resilience and leadership in guiding the nation through challenging times.

He expressed confidence in the president’s vision for Nigeria, noting that his policies are focused on long-term development and national stability.

Urging Nigerians, especially youths and students, to disregard what he called a negative Western-style information campaign against the president, Maharaj Ji said, “Continuity in leadership would help sustain progress and strengthen unity across the country, especially where we know that the nation’s problem was caused by a lack of leadership that can unite the tribes together.”

He encouraged critics to adopt a constructive approach, emphasizing that nation-building requires collective responsibility rather than constant division and political hostility.

Maharaj Ji concluded by calling for patience, optimism, and continued unity, asserting that ongoing policies will yield positive results and that support for the government is essential for achieving lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
