Lagos State has reinforced its traffic management team with the deployment of 500 extra officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit.
The announcement, made on Monday, April 6, 2026, comes as part of the state government’s strategy to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the high-profile engagement.
According to traffic authorities, the additional officers will be deployed to major highways, strategic intersections, and access roads to event venues expected to see heavy traffic.

The move is designed to work in tandem with other security agencies to manage congestion, enforce traffic rules, and respond swiftly to incidents.
The Lagos State Government has urged motorists and commuters to comply with traffic directives, follow official road advisories, and use alternative routes where possible to minimize delays.
Officials stressed that the deployment is intended to prevent gridlock and maintain order as large crowds are anticipated for the president’s engagements across the city.
Tinubu’s visit is part of a broader schedule of activities in Lagos, including commissioning key projects and attending public functions, which are expected to draw significant attention and heightened movement throughout the metropolis.
