The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has announced temporary road closures ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2026.
A post on the state’s X account on Friday listed the roads affected by the closures, including: King George V Road near the Mobil Filling Station junction, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, Flagstaff House inbound to TBS, Outer Marina by State House inbound to TBS, Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building, and Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Church.
“All closures will commence from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event. Motorists and residents are advised to plan alternative routes and expect traffic delays around the affected areas,” the post stated.

The government apologised for any inconvenience the closures may cause and thanked residents and commuters for their cooperation during the carnival.
The Lagos Fanti Carnival is an annual cultural festival organised by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
The event celebrates the city’s vibrant culture, arts, music, and dance, drawing large crowds of both residents and tourists.
Parades, street performances, and cultural displays are expected across central Lagos during the carnival, which may result in significant traffic congestion in the affected areas.
