Easter: Adeleke, Fadahunsi, Osun APC Celebrate Season With Christians

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged Christians to reflect on the enduring themes of love, sacrifice, and hope that define the Easter season.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and obtained in Osogbo on Friday, Adeleke described Easter as a powerful reminder of life’s triumph over death and light’s victory over darkness.

He highlighted that the celebration’s core values are faith, selflessness, and hope for a better future.

“The sacrifice of Jesus Christ calls for renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence and service to humanity,” the governor said, stressing the spiritual significance of the season.

He reassured Christians in Osun of his administration’s “continuous dedication to fairness, inclusiveness, and the protection of religious freedom” and noted that his government is “committed to building a society where all citizens, regardless of faith, can thrive without fear or discrimination.”

Adeleke further encouraged believers to “embody the virtues of humility, forgiveness, and love exemplified during Easter, highlighting that these values are essential for strengthening unity and advancing the collective progress of the state.”

Similarly, Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East in the Senate, called on Nigerians to embrace the deeper meaning of Easter by living a life rooted in sacrifice, compassion, and love for others.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Segun-Progress, Fadahunsi praised Christians for completing the 40-day Lenten fast, describing it as a demonstration of discipline, faith, and spiritual dedication.

“Jesus sacrificed His throne, came to earth to live like man, and because without the shedding of blood there cannot be remission of sins, He laid down His life so we can be saved. Christ’s sacrifice was borne out of love for humanity.

That same love must guide our actions, decisions, and relationships with others, regardless of differences,” he said, urging believers to carry the lessons of Lent and Easter beyond the season.

He also called on Christians to use the period to pray for Nigeria, particularly for peace, unity, progress, and for leaders at all levels.

Meanwhile, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress extended Easter greetings to Christians in the state, across Nigeria, and worldwide.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC described Easter as a sacred period representing hope, renewal, sacrifice, and the ultimate triumph of light over darkness through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The party encouraged residents to draw inspiration from Easter’s lessons by promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and a renewed commitment to the collective advancement of the state.
