Lagos To Enforce Traffic Diversions For Project Commissioning Wednesday, Thursday

The Lagos State Government has announced temporary traffic restrictions on major roads across the state ahead of the commissioning of key infrastructure projects slated for Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the partial road closures are intended to maintain safety and ensure the seamless execution of the scheduled events.

Motorists were advised to plan their journeys in advance and steer clear of affected routes during the designated periods to reduce the risk of congestion and delays.

According to the statement, the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be inaugurated on Wednesday, April 8, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with traffic expected to be impacted around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota.

“All motorists transiting this corridor during the specified hours should seek alternative routes to avoid congestion and ensure timely arrival at their destinations,” the statement said.

On Thursday, April 9, two separate commissioning events will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The first involves the Tolu Schools Complex, which will affect movement in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle, prompting motorists in those areas to make alternative travel arrangements and allow extra time for their trips.

Later that day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., another event is scheduled to hold at Eko Hotel and within Victoria Island, where drivers have been advised to avoid the vicinity or prepare for possible delays.

The government added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, alongside other traffic personnel, will be on ground to regulate movement and assist road users.

It also recalled the earlier deployment of 500 additional LASTMA officers to manage traffic during the events, which will be attended by President Bola Tinubu.

Osiyemi urged residents to cooperate with traffic officials and adhere strictly to directives to ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout the period.
