The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody some of its officers over allegations of misconduct involving members of the Anti-Cultism Squad at Ojuelegba Underbridge.
The action followed a video shared on social media on Monday night, in which a user accused the officers of targeting young people, harassing them, and seizing their mobile phones.
Responding to the development on Tuesday via X, the command confirmed that the officers had been identified and questioned.
According to the statement, they “have been identified and brought before the Commissioner of Police. Their statements have been obtained, and he has ordered their detention pending further investigation.”

The viral video alleged that “police impunity is back on full display. At Ojuelegba Under Bridge, Lagos, the Anti-Cultism Squad officers are harassing youths and confiscating their phones.”
The police also disclosed that the individual who reported the incident has been contacted and is expected to assist with the probe.
The command noted that the complainant “is expected to report tomorrow to provide his statement and assist in the ongoing investigation.”
Authorities further assured that findings from the inquiry would be made available to the public, stating that “the outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.”
