A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide, representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has said he may leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) if the faction led by Sen. David Mark wins the ongoing court battle over the party’s leadership.
Abejide stated this on Thursday, April 9, 2026, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he aligned with the Nafiu Bala-led faction and ruled out any immediate prospect of reconciliation within the party.
He said the escalating internal dispute had deepened divisions and that the outcome of the court case would be decisive in shaping his political future, adding that he could consider joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) if the crisis persists.
Describing the APC as the country’s most stable political platform, he argued that opposition parties weakened by internal conflicts struggle with cohesion and electoral credibility.

“APC is the only stable party in Nigeria,” he said.
Abejide also urged the David Mark-led faction to suspend plans for a party convention and pursue a political resolution, warning that proceeding amid the dispute could worsen tensions and further entrench the crisis.
Earlier same day, he joined the Nafiu Bala faction at a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, where they challenged the legitimacy of the party’s leadership structure.
At the protest, Abejide insisted that Bala remained a legitimate member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), rejecting claims that he had resigned. He said there was no formal NEC meeting or valid process backing such assertions.
The leadership tussle between the David Mark and Nafiu Bala factions has continued to split the ADC, with both sides maintaining opposing claims as the dispute moves toward judicial resolution.
