The Kano State Police Command has rescued a two-year-old boy abducted in the state, arrested three suspects, and recovered ₦930,000 from the ransom paid by the victim’s family.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on April 19 in Gwammaja Quarters, Dala Local Government Area, where the child, identified as Aliyu Muhammad, was abducted in front of his residence.
The suspects reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦1 million, which was paid by the family. However, they failed to release the child after receiving the payment.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, directed the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to launch an intelligence-led operation.

Police said sustained surveillance and technical efforts led to the identification of the suspects’ hideout in Gwammaja Quarters, where the child was being held.
The suspects—Hassan Umar, Abdullahi Hamisu, and Hussaini Saminu—were subsequently arrested, while the victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.
Operatives also recovered ₦930,000, believed to be part of the ransom paid.
Bakori commended the operatives for their professionalism and tactical efficiency, noting that the successful rescue underscores the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to support ongoing security efforts across the state.
