A former Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Ja’oji, has declared his intention to contest the Tarauni Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in 2027.
The declaration was contained in a statement issued by his media aide, Abba Anwar, and made available to reporters on Sunday.
Ja’oji recently resigned from his presidential role following mounting calls from supporters urging him to enter the race.
According to the statement, he formally announced his ambition while addressing supporters on Friday in Kano.
“This ambition is not borne out of mere ambition, but from a deep sense of responsibility, commitment and consistent engagement with the people and the ideals of my great party, the All Progressives Congress,” he said.

“Over the past few years, I have remained steadfast in my loyalty and contributions to the growth, unity and electoral successes of our party at various levels.”
Ja’oji added that his tenure as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership deepened his understanding of governance, nation-building, and inclusive leadership.
“In that capacity, I came up with initiatives aimed at promoting civic responsibility, youth engagement, and leadership development across the country,” he noted.
The statement further highlighted his investments in youth development and women’s inclusion through large-scale empowerment programmes, adding that he aims to deliver greater dividends of democracy to the constituency if elected.
