Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has applauded residents for actively participating in the revived monthly Sanitation Day observed on Saturday.
The state government reported a strong turnout across several areas, including Ikorodu, Badagry, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Alimoso, Ikeja, and Agege, indicating widespread compliance with the environmental sanitation exercise.
In a statement released on Sunday, April 26, by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the governor expressed appreciation to residents for supporting the initiative aimed at promoting a cleaner environment.
“I thank Lagosians who joined the call to clean up our environment as a sure step to good health.

That is patriotic; it is the Spirit of Lagos that we often speak about. We should continue to walk that path,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He also cautioned residents against improper waste disposal, particularly as the rainy season draws closer.
The statement noted that the government has stepped up efforts to clear drainage systems and gutters across the state as part of flood prevention measures in anticipation of heavy rainfall.
It further disclosed that the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, working alongside the Ministry of Information and Strategy, has begun an awareness campaign targeting indiscriminate refuse dumping and the blockage of drainage channels.
