PICTORIAL: Troops Arrest Two Criminals, Recover Arms In Delta Raid

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1 of Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, have recorded a major operational breakthrough following a swift response to security threats in Delta State.

The operation, which took place in Ogidigben Community in Warri South West Local Government Area, led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles and the arrest of two suspected criminals.

The statement was signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, Capt. Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, on Monday night.

According to the statement, the troops acted on credible intelligence after reports of sporadic gunfire in the area.

Upon deployment, they successfully secured the community and confiscated a cache of weapons and related items.

Recovered exhibits include six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two knives, ten machetes, and four rain boots.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing further investigation.

Commending the troops for their prompt action and resilience, the Commander of 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, urged personnel to maintain the momentum in ongoing operations.

He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to preventing criminal elements from operating freely within its area of responsibility.

The commander also issued a stern warning to individuals and groups involved in illegal possession of arms or criminal activities, advising them to desist or face intensified military action aimed at bringing offenders to justice.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its resolve to sustain operations under Operation DELTA SAFE to enhance security and stability across the Niger Delta region.
