2027: Ex-Foreign Minister Tuggar Picks APC Governorship Form For Bauchi

Yusuf Tuggar, the immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, has taken a major step in his Bauchi State governorship ambition by securing the All Progressives Congress nomination form for the 2027 election.

The development was highlighted in a video circulating online, showing a formal presentation at the APC secretariat.

The event drew party officials and supporters, with scenes of documents being processed as attendees recorded and applauded the moment Tuggar received the ₦50 million form.

The former minister, who previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany, has now fully shifted focus to his gubernatorial aspiration following his exit from the Federal Executive Council.

Although he has not issued an extensive public statement at the event, Tuggar has maintained in earlier remarks that he would respect the outcome of a credible APC primary.

He has also stressed the need for effective leadership, inclusive governance, and the protection of minority interests across Bauchi State.

His entry into the race comes within the framework of Nigeria’s electoral regulations, which require political appointees to resign before participating in party primaries.

Tuggar stepped down from his ministerial role in compliance with the Electoral Act, positioning himself to contest for the party’s ticket.

With his formal acquisition of the nomination form, Tuggar has effectively signalled the start of his campaign journey, as political alignments within the APC in Bauchi begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections.
