A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress coalition and former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Thursday arrived in Bauchi State for a meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed.
The meeting, held behind closed doors at the Presidential Lounge of the Government House in Bauchi, had no immediate details disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Sources within the Government House indicated that the discussion may centre on recent political developments and potential alignments ahead of future elections, particularly as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general polls.
Both leaders are, however, expected to brief journalists after the meeting.

Mohammed, who chairs the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, had on March 31 signalled interest in aligning with the ADC when he hosted a delegation of the party led by Babachir Lawal at the Government House.
However, the governor’s political direction appeared fluid shortly afterwards, following his meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside Abba Yusuf on April 1.
The closed-door engagement between Obi and Mohammed is expected to further shape ongoing conversations around opposition strategy and coalition-building in the lead-up to the next election cycle.
