Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared that Nigeria is in capable hands under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for his re-election to sustain ongoing reforms and development initiatives.
Fubara made the remarks on Thursday while declaring open the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt, where monarchs from the 17 southern states gathered to deliberate on issues of unity, security, and economic development.
The governor noted that the current administration is making measurable progress in economic recovery and infrastructure delivery, including coastal road projects, despite prevailing challenges.
He emphasised that continuity in leadership is essential for sustained growth.
“It is not ideal to change the goalposts in the middle of the game,” Fubara said, urging stakeholders across the region to work collectively toward shared development goals.
He added that the convergence of traditional rulers in Port Harcourt reflects the peaceful atmosphere in the state and its capacity to host major national engagements.

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife, who chairs the council, said the meeting was convened to promote unity and strengthen peace across the southern region.
He described the gathering as a reflection of Nigeria’s diversity, noting that over 400 dialects are spoken across the southern states.
According to him, the Port Harcourt meeting is the fourth in the series, following previous sessions held in Imo State, Ogun State, and Lagos State.
The monarch explained that the forum provides a platform for traditional rulers to engage on shared values and common interests, as well as support efforts to address security and economic challenges facing the country.
Other prominent royal fathers in attendance include the co-chairman of the council, the Obi of Obinugwu, and the Olubadan of Ibadan.
