2027: Kwankwasiyya, Obidients Hold Private Meeting In Abuja, Urge Deeper Engagement

Leaders of the Kwankwasiyya and Obidient movements convened a private meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, as consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The engagement, which lasted about three hours, took place at the national headquarters of the Obidient Movement following a solidarity visit by representatives of the Kwankwasiyya group.

While the specifics of their deliberations were not disclosed, the meeting drew notable figures, including Moses Paul, widely known as Dr Mo, a former AMAC chairmanship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, and activist Aisha Yesufu.

Addressing journalists after the session, Kwankwasiyya National Coordinator, Habeeb Mohammed, emphasised the urgency of unity and shared responsibility in shaping Nigeria’s future.

“It is time for everybody to stand and project Nigeria to become the country of our dreams. We need to nurture that dream and ensure it doesn’t die,” Mohammed said.

He stressed the importance of collaboration across political lines, noting that meaningful progress would require collective effort.

“The truth is that we need one another and must also be ready to work together. Those who believe this is just hearsay should realise that these committed Nigerians here are ready to build a better Nigeria, not for ourselves, but for future generations,” he added.

Highlighting plans for continued engagement, Mohammed said, “We will be working together with our people in the Obidient Movement and other support groups like the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement. So, we want to thank you all for continuing the good work.”

Responding, Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, called for renewed patriotism and stronger civic participation.

“Let us mobilise, not demobilise. I am calling for renewed patriotism and productive citizen participation. I want everyone here to work together as a team,” Tanko said.

He also urged restraint and mutual respect among political actors.

“From today onward, please let’s start having respect for all our leaders. Don’t insult anybody. All of them are important to this particular struggle. Nigeria needs everyone.

“We are also calling for all youths who are interested in making a new Nigeria possible,” he added.

The meeting follows closely on the heels of a separate closed-door engagement between Peter Obi and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan, part of ongoing political alignments ahead of 2027.
