Nigeria’s newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for her appointment, pledging to promote the country’s interests on the global stage.
In a statement shared via her verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the minister described her appointment as both an honour and a call to greater national service.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu noted that her selection by the President reflects a significant responsibility, adding that she is committed to justifying the confidence reposed in her.

“I am truly honoured to step into this new role and express my profound appreciation to the President. Your Excellency, I am deeply humbled by your trust and confidence in my abilities,” she stated.
She further outlined her intention to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy direction in alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with a focus on the 4D foreign policy framework and enhanced citizen diplomacy.
Reassuring Nigerians of her dedication, the minister emphasised her commitment to advancing national interests and reinforcing Nigeria’s presence in international affairs.
Her appointment follows the resignation of former Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.
