Benue Head Of Service, Dr. Agbgbo Ode, Dies After Brief Illness

The Benue State Government has confirmed the passing of its Head of Service, Dr. Agbgbo Ode, who died in the early hours of Saturday, May 2, 2026, following a brief illness.

The development was disclosed in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Deborah Aber, expressing deep sorrow over the sudden loss.

According to the statement, the late Ode was a central figure in the state’s civil service, widely respected for his professionalism, diligence, and administrative expertise.

Describing his death as a painful loss, the government noted that his contributions to public service would leave a lasting impact on the state’s governance structure.

“His credible and dependable authority in matters of public service, as well as his hard work, brilliance and immense contributions to the State Civil Service will forever be missed,” the statement read.

Aber further portrayed the deceased as an outstanding technocrat and a highly regarded authority in the public sector, whose legacy would be remembered for years to come.

On behalf of the state government, she extended condolences to the family of the late Head of Service, his colleagues, and the entire Benue civil service, emphasizing that his death represents a significant loss to the state.

Dr. Ode’s passing comes as a shock to many within the state workforce, where he was seen as a stabilizing force and a committed public servant.
