Justice Crack Remanded In Army Incitement Case, Trial May 25

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday, May 4, 2026, arraigned a blogger, Chidiebere Justice Mark, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” before a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations bordering on cybercrime and incitement involving the Nigerian Army.

He was brought before the court following his arrest over the weekend by the Nigerian Army in connection with a viral video and accompanying posts shared on his X handle, @JusticeCrack, in which he alleged that soldiers were being poorly fed.

The prosecution alleged that on or about April 28, 2026, the defendant circulated information considered false, with intent to cause annoyance and public disaffection.

The charge is said to contravene Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended).

In another count, he was accused of publishing a video and related statements that allegedly triggered widespread reactions and were capable of causing fear and a breach of public peace, contrary to Section 59 of the Criminal Code Act.

He was further accused of attempting to commit a felony by disseminating content described as derogatory towards the Nigerian Army, an offense said to be punishable under Section 509 of the Criminal Code Act.

Following his arraignment, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered that the defendant be remanded in DSS custody.

The court adjourned the matter to May 25, 2026, for trial and possible hearing of a bail application.
