Taiwo Awoniyi delivered a standout performance on Monday afternoon, scoring twice as Nottingham Forest cruised to a commanding 3-1 victory over Chelsea FC in a Premier League encounter.
Forest wasted no time asserting dominance, racing into a two-goal lead within the opening 15 minutes.
Awoniyi opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, before Igor Jesus doubled the advantage shortly after, leaving Chelsea stunned early on.
Chelsea had a golden opportunity to pull one back before halftime, but Cole Palmer failed to convert from the penalty spot deep into first-half stoppage time, as Forest held firm to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Awoniyi struck again in the 52nd minute to make it 3-0, effectively putting the game beyond Chelsea’s reach and capping off an impressive individual display from the Super Eagles forward.

Chelsea thought they had found a response in the 73rd minute through João Pedro, but his effort was ruled out for offside, a decision that sparked frustration among the away supporters, many of whom began leaving the stadium.
João Pedro eventually grabbed a late consolation goal in stoppage time, scoring in the 93rd minute to make it 3-1, though it did little to alter the outcome.
The emphatic win serves as a major boost for Nottingham Forest as they turn their attention to their upcoming UEFA Europa League semi-final clash at Villa Park on Thursday, where they carry a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg.
