Festus Keyamo has taken a swipe at Peter Obi over his recent defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), using a marriage analogy to describe the political development.
In a post shared via his X handle on Thursday, Keyamo likened Obi’s relationship with the ADC to that of a bachelor unwilling to fully commit to a woman he claims to love.
“Please, allow me to interfere in what does not concern me at all this morning,” Keyamo began.
He wrote that a bachelor who truly loves a woman but refuses to assure her she would be his first wife cannot blame her for leaving when another suitor offers her the assurance and commitment she deserves.
“A bachelor loves a young, beautiful woman so much and thinks she’s actually the best of his girlfriends, but refuses to assure her she’d be the first wife. He proposes to keep her as second wife or side-chick,” he wrote.
“The beautiful woman, who knows her worth, has no time to waste waiting for this bachelor and walks away quietly to another suitor who knows her worth and assures her instantly she’d be the first wife.”

Keyamo then connected the analogy directly to the recent political realignment involving Obi and the ADC.
“This is just the case of Peter Obi and the ADC,” he concluded.
The minister’s comments come amid growing political tensions following Obi’s defection from the ADC alongside Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi had explained that his departure from the ADC was informed by what he described as “orchestrated litigation,” internal crises, and uncertainty surrounding the party’s future.
The defection has continued to generate reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, with allies and critics offering differing interpretations of the move and its implications for opposition politics ahead of 2027.
