ADC Has Moved On From Obi, Kwankwaso Exit — Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress has said it has moved on from the departure of former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the party.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described their exit as a “glitch.”

Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the ADC to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, citing internal political disputes and ongoing court cases within the party as reasons for their decision.

Reacting to the development, Abdullahi said the ADC had already stabilised after their departure and remained focused on its larger political goals.

“Peter Obi and Kwankwaso moving from the ADC was a glitch. We have moved on from it,” he said.

“We have stabilised and moved forward because the objective remains the same, stopping the steady deterioration of governance in the country and strengthening multi-party democracy.”

According to him, although some opposition figures have moved to other political parties while others remain in the ADC, efforts to build a formidable opposition coalition ahead of future elections are still ongoing.

“While some have moved to other parties and others remain in ADC, the broader vision of building a strong opposition coalition is still very much alive within the current political dynamics,” Abdullahi added.
