Cubana Chief Priest Loses Bid For Imo Reps Seat

Popular businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has lost the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC primary, held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, ended the celebrity entrepreneur’s bid to secure the party’s ticket for the House of Representatives.

Cubana Chief Priest, who serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, had recently intensified his political activities and publicly declared his ambition to represent the constituency under the APC platform.

His entry into the race generated widespread attention across political and entertainment circles, with the socialite presenting himself as part of a younger generation seeking greater participation in governance and grassroots development.

Following the outcome of the primary election, reactions trailed the development on social media, where supporters expressed disappointment while critics questioned the influence of celebrity status in electoral politics.

Reacting to the backlash, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, condemned those mocking Cubana Chief Priest over the failed bid.

“Why are people mocking Cubana Chief Priest? Not nice. It’s okay to try and try again. He lost an election and so what? I am disappointed,” Ossai wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday.

The development adds to the growing list of entertainers and public figures seeking elective positions as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum across the country.
