Olatunji Rilwan Disu has visited Oyo State following the deadly attack and abduction incident that occurred in Oriire Local Government Area in the early hours of Friday, May 15, 2026.
The Inspector-General expressed deep concern over the incident and extended condolences to families of those killed during the attack.
He was accompanied on the visit by Ojo Adekimi and Abayomi Shogunle.
Police authorities said the inclusion of the Kwara State police commissioner in the delegation was due to the strategic proximity of the Oriire axis to border communities in Kwara State.

During the visit, the IGP met with Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga and other security stakeholders, where he received operational briefings on ongoing rescue efforts and security deployments across the affected communities.
Disu assured residents, parents and guardians that the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, had intensified coordinated search-and-rescue operations, intelligence gathering and tactical deployments aimed at securing the release of abducted victims and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
The IGP condemned the incident as cruel and unacceptable, stressing that security agencies would spare no effort in restoring peace and normalcy to the affected communities.
He also directed the deployment of additional tactical and intelligence assets to strengthen operations in the area and adjoining forests.
