Robbers Attack Oyo Residents, Police Nab Suspect, Recover Stolen Motorcycle

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a robbery suspect and recovered a stolen motorcycle following an attack on two residents of the Olorunda Aba area of the state.

The arrest, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, was made on December 25, 2025, after operatives of the Olorunda Aba Division responded to a distress call at about 10:30 p.m.

Olayinka said two armed suspects, riding an unregistered motorcycle and wielding machetes, attacked the victims—Mutiu Adeyemo and Akinpelu Ojo—at Adanla Area, Eniosa, Olorunda Aba, and dispossessed them of their TVS motorcycle.

He explained that upon sighting a police patrol team, the suspects attempted to flee with both their motorcycle and the stolen one, leading to a hot pursuit.

“During the chase, one of the suspects abandoned the stolen motorcycle and escaped into a nearby bush, while the second suspect fell from the motorcycle while trying to evade arrest,” Olayinka said.

The arrested suspect was identified as Sunday Onah. Preliminary investigation revealed that he confessed to the crime and admitted that he and his accomplice had been involved in similar criminal activities in the past.

The police said the stolen motorcycle had been recovered and secured as an exhibit, while efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.

Olayinka added that investigation had been intensified and that the arrested suspect would be charged to court upon its conclusion.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and prompt response, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Femi Haruna, directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Haruna also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for his leadership and support, assuring residents of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property. He urged members of the public to cooperate with the police by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
