A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of ₦100 million following his arraignment over an amended five-count charge.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik outlined several strict conditions the former governor must meet before the bail can take effect.
The court ordered that the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro in Abuja and provide the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property to the court registry.
According to the ruling, the surety must also be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17 and present proof of salary payments for at least three months, backed by a confirmation letter from a bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
Justice Abdulmalik further directed the surety to submit an affidavit of means, enter into a bail bond, and provide a recent passport photograph to the court registry.
As part of the conditions, El-Rufai was ordered to surrender all valid international passports pending the determination of the case.

The court also instructed the surety to submit a verification letter from their department as well as a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months.
In addition, the former governor is expected to report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services every last Friday of the month by 10 a.m. to sign an attendance register until the case is concluded.
