President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday declared that Nigeria’s difficult period of economic reforms is over, insisting that the sacrifices made by citizens over the past three years have begun to yield a more stable economy.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, Tinubu linked the spirit of sacrifice in Sallah to the economic hardship experienced under his administration’s reform agenda.
He said the country is now positioned as a preferred investment destination, capable of driving job creation and long-term economic growth.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth,” he said.
Tinubu added that what he described as “the walk through the dark tunnel” had ended, stressing that Nigeria had entered a new phase of economic recovery.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated.
He expressed confidence that ongoing reforms would continue to deliver improved security and expanded opportunities for citizens, noting that the government remained committed to sustaining policy implementation.
On security, Tinubu acknowledged that insecurity still persists in parts of the country despite gains recorded by security forces.
He referenced recent operational successes, including the reported elimination of an ISIS-linked leader in the Lake Chad Basin through a joint Nigeria–US operation.
“I am aware that, despite the best efforts of our security and intelligence agencies… heartless terrorists and bandits still attack some communities,” he said.

The President assured Nigerians that government efforts would ultimately defeat criminal groups, insisting that citizens are not abandoned in the face of insecurity.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he added.
Tinubu also called on religious leaders and citizens to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for peace, national unity, and leadership guidance, while encouraging acts of charity toward the less privileged.
He said the festival reflects the values of Prophet Ibrahim, including faith, obedience, sacrifice, and compassion, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and selflessness.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in key sectors such as security, agriculture, infrastructure, and human capital development, saying these remain central to national progress.
