President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election held in Jigawa State, polling 206,520 votes to emerge as the party’s preferred presidential candidate in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.
The result was announced on Saturday at the APC collation centre in Dutse by the returning officer and Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi.
According to the governor, the primary election was conducted across the 27 local government areas of the state under what he described as a peaceful and transparent process.
Namadi disclosed that the APC has a total of 330,327 registered members in Jigawa State, while 206,520 members were accredited to participate in the presidential primary.
He said President Tinubu secured all the valid votes cast during the exercise, while another aspirant, Mr. Osifo Stanley, recorded zero votes.
“The state has a total of 330,327 registered members and 206,520 voters were accredited. President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 206,520 votes while Mr. Osifo Stanley scored zero vote,” Namadi announced.
The overwhelming outcome further reinforces Tinubu’s dominance within the APC structure in the North-West state, regarded as one of the ruling party’s strongholds.
Speaking shortly after casting his vote earlier in the day, Governor Namadi declared that the party’s commitment to delivering more than one million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election remained firm and irreversible.
According to him, the massive turnout witnessed during the primary election reflected the level of support and confidence Jigawa residents have in the president and his administration.

“As you can see, the people have lined up in large number for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while nobody is on the side of his opponents. This is a testimony to how popular the President is in the minds of the people of Jigawa,” the governor said.
Namadi also expressed optimism that the APC would maintain its political dominance in the state during the forthcoming general elections.
He argued that the outcome of the presidential primary had already sent a strong signal to opposition parties regarding the ruling party’s electoral strength ahead of 2027.
“The outcome of the presidential primary will also be enough to send a signal to opposition parties that the APC is on the path to clear victory at all levels in the forthcoming 2027 general election,” he added.
The development comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations, consultations and internal primary elections ahead of the next election cycle.
Tinubu, who is seeking re-election under the APC platform, has continued to receive endorsements from party stakeholders and governors in several states amid ongoing political realignments nationwide.
Jigawa remains one of the key northern states expected to play a significant role in the electoral calculations of major political parties ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
