Navy Inaugurates 80 Housing Units, Golf Facility In Lagos

The Chief of Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, has inaugurated 80 housing units and a recreational facility in Lagos as part of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.

According to a statement issued by the Navy on Saturday, the projects were commissioned at Navy Town and are aimed at improving personnel welfare and living conditions.

The newly inaugurated facilities include a 48-unit accommodation block for junior ratings and 32 family housing units spread across 16 blocks. Also commissioned was the Dolphin Golf Club House.

Speaking during the inauguration, Vice Admiral Abbas said the projects underscore the Navy’s renewed commitment to personnel welfare and infrastructure development.

He disclosed that the 48-unit accommodation block had remained abandoned for more than five years before the current administration completed it, describing the project as a symbol of the Navy’s determination to revive dormant investments.

“The completion of this project demonstrates our resolve not to allow viable projects to remain abandoned,” he said.

The Naval Chief added that several abandoned projects across various commands were currently under review for completion as part of broader efforts to enhance the welfare of officers and ratings.

He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the facilities, particularly by ensuring prudent electricity consumption and proper maintenance of public assets.

The Chief of Naval Staff commended Bola Tinubu for his continued support for the development of the Navy and expressed appreciation to the contractors and engineers involved in delivering the projects.

He maintained that improved welfare and quality accommodation would boost personnel morale, strengthen commitment to duty and enhance the operational readiness of the service.
