Panic gripped residents of Ayegunle Bunu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State after suspected terrorists launched a deadly overnight attack on the community, killing one person and abducting more than 30 others.
The assailants reportedly stormed the community at about 2:25 a.m. on Monday, unleashing fear and chaos as residents fled for safety.
Sources within the community said the attackers operated for several minutes, moving from one location to another before whisking away dozens of victims to an unknown destination.
During the assault, one resident was reportedly killed while another sustained injuries. Local reports further indicated that two members of the community, a man and a woman, were among those kidnapped by the gunmen.
The attackers were also said to have intercepted a commercial vehicle travelling through the area, forcing passengers out before abducting them along with other victims.
Eyewitness accounts suggested that the gunmen encountered little or no resistance during the operation, enabling them to carry out the attack and escape unhindered.

The latest incident has heightened fears among residents and commuters who use roads connecting parts of Kogi State to neighbouring Kwara State, an area that has witnessed growing security concerns in recent months.
Community members have called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted victims and strengthen security presence in vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to provide an official update on the incident or the ongoing efforts to track down the attackers.
The attack adds to the growing list of security challenges confronting communities across the region, with residents urging both state and federal authorities to take decisive action against armed criminal groups operating in the area.
