A lecturer at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) was overcome with emotion after receiving a surprise show of appreciation from her students, who presented her with gifts in recognition of her commitment and influence on their academic journey.
The touching moment, which was captured on video and shared by #NigeriaStories on X on Friday, June 6, 2026, has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many users praising both the lecturer and her students.
The presentation took place during a lecture period, when the students unexpectedly handed over several gifts, including packs of bottled water, household items, a black handbag, and other wrapped packages.
Videos circulating online show the lecturer surrounded by students as they celebrated her. Although she initially tried to maintain her composure, she eventually became emotional and broke down in tears while students embraced her, rested their hands on her shoulders, and applauded.
One of the students displayed a large sheet containing handwritten messages, while others recorded the memorable occasion on their phones.
The video quickly generated reactions from social media users, many of whom described the scene as heartwarming.
One commenter, #Danobo83, wrote, “If she tries to speak a word tears will flow like river Niger. Even me sef can’t hold my tears” while #OkonRobinson31 noted “Everybody can’t have so much love for one person but when the majority do it’s clearly known that the person is a good person”.
