NYSC Halts 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation In Niger

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has temporarily halted the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation programme for prospective corps members assigned to Niger State.

The announcement was made on Sunday through the scheme’s official X account, where the suspension was attributed to ongoing renovation activities at the state’s orientation camp.

According to the statement, “This is to notify the General Public and Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their Orientation Course Exercise is suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the Orientation Camp.

“PCMs affected should note that they will be contacted at a short notice on where and when to report for their Orientation Course.

The Management regrets all inconveniences to the affected PCMs and their parents.”

NYSC further stated that affected prospective corps members would receive updates on alternative arrangements for the orientation exercise at a later date.

The development follows a series of infrastructure-related challenges that have affected the camp this year.

Earlier in 2026, a powerful windstorm caused extensive damage to facilities at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, located in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The disaster affected several structures, including male hostels, the multi-purpose hall, kitchen facilities, and staff quarters.

Following the incident, Governor Mohammed Bago ordered immediate rehabilitation of the damaged facilities.

Niger State is not the only location to experience disruptions linked to renovation projects. Similar postponements of orientation activities were recorded earlier in the year in Enugu and Osun states.

Nationwide, the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation course began on June 10, 2026, and is expected to conclude on June 30, 2026.
