US President Donald Trump has announced plans for a major Independence Day rally in Washington, D.C., as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The July 4 event, unveiled on Monday, will complement a separate celebration scheduled for June 24, which Trump had earlier promoted as the “Greatest Rally, EVER!… A Rally to end all Rallies!”
The earlier gathering is expected to feature performances by military bands and several artists favored by the president.
The June 24 programme was organized after a number of musicians withdrew from a planned 250th anniversary concert series in the nation’s capital, with some citing concerns over the event’s political overtones.
Providing fresh details on Monday, Trump described the July 4 gathering as “the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all.”
According to the president, the event, titled “TRIBUTE TO AMERICA,” will take place around the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
Trump has previously taken a personal interest in renovation work involving the memorial’s reflecting pool.
“Starting at 7 P.M. EST, this HUGE Celebration will honor our Country’s People, Spirit, Strength, Resolve, and Triumphs,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“There will be incredible Flyovers and Airshows featuring our Top Military Pilots and Equipment, and I will deliver keynote remarks that you will not want to miss,” he said.

The festivities are expected to conclude with a fireworks display, which Trump said would be “the LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY.”
In another post, the president described the June 24 programme as the “‘kick off’ of our summer long Celebration,” although he did not indicate that he would address the gathering or characterize it as a rally.
Trump said attendees at the June event would enjoy performances by military bands playing “ONLY THE HITS THAT YOU KNOW AND LOVE!”
He also announced appearances by tenor Christopher Macchio and Lee Greenwood, whose song “God Bless the USA” has become a regular feature at Trump campaign events.
“You will also bear witness to impressive Military flyovers featuring precision Fighter Jets and Stealth Bombers, which will be flown by our U.S. Military Pilots, who have proven to be the most Elite Pilots anywhere in the World,” Trump said.
The Republican president has sought to play a prominent role in the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
As part of those efforts, he recently hosted a mixed martial arts event in a specially built arena on the White House lawn on June 14, which coincided with his 80th birthday.
