“The implementation of this system ensures Nigeria has a smarter, more secure, and digitally enabled addressing system that will improve service delivery, strengthen emergency response, and unlock new opportunities across our economy.
“The administration of President Tinubu is committed to reforming every aspect of our economy in order to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a $1trn economy by 2030.”
At a workshop held on Thursday, July 2, in Abuja, the Federal Government described the initiative as critical national digital infrastructure that will support governance beyond postal services.
According to officials, the system will strengthen emergency response, improve logistics and e-commerce, expand financial inclusion, support credible elections and population censuses, enhance national security, and provide reliable location data for public planning.
Authorities also said Nigerians will not be charged to obtain or use their digital postcodes, while access to postcode information will be protected through multiple security layers.
