Academic Records: Nnaji Says Allegations Not Proof Of Guilt

Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology and Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, Uche Nnaji, has rejected recent reports regarding legal proceedings linked to his academic records, insisting that the matter should be determined by the courts rather than public discussions.

Nnaji, through a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Robert Ngwu, said recent media reports had caused confusion by combining separate issues involving civil proceedings, alleged criminal investigations and court procedures.

He explained that the case concerning his academic records, identified as Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1909/2025, was a civil action he instituted at the Federal High Court, Abuja, to seek clarification and obtain his official university transcript.

According to the statement, Nnaji has not been charged with any offence and did not appear before the court as an accused person.

The statement noted that the case was adjourned until October 20, 2026, after efforts by the parties to settle the matter outside the courtroom were unsuccessful.

It further stressed that the proceedings were not a criminal trial and did not represent any finding of guilt against him.

Addressing reports that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had filed criminal charges against him, Nnaji said he had not received any formal charge, hearing notice or arraignment notice.

The former minister stated that he would fully defend himself if any charges were presented against him in line with due legal process.
