2027: Wike-Led PDP Faction Uploads Presidential, NASS Candidates On INEC Portal

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says it has successfully uploaded the names of its presidential candidate, running mate and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal for the 2027 general election.

The faction’s National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, announced the development in a statement issued on Sunday, July 12, describing it as a major milestone in the party’s preparations for the elections.

Mohammed said the successful submission reflects the party’s determination to participate fully in the 2027 polls.

“I am pleased to inform all PDP members and Nigerians that our great Party, under my leadership, has successfully uploaded the names of our Presidential Candidate, his Running Mate, and our National Assembly candidates onto the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” Mohammed said.

“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the promise we made that, under my leadership, the PDP will fully participate in the 2027 General Elections. Today, we have taken another decisive step towards fulfilling that promise,” Mohammed added.

A screenshot shared by the faction from the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal showed the PDP dashboard with 410 new candidate forms generated.

According to the image, 367 nominations have been submitted, while 42 are still pending.

Mohammed said work is continuing on the submission of governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates.

“As we await the conclusion of the upload of our Governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates, I, on behalf of the National Working Committee of our Party, extend my heartfelt congratulations to all PDP members across Nigeria and around the world,” Mohammed said.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more united Party and a better future for our nation,” Mohammed added.

The announcement came shortly after INEC extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names of their presidential and National Assembly candidates through its online nomination portal.

It also followed the ruling All Progressives Congress’ announcement that it had completed the upload of 471 candidates, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, 109 Senate candidates and 360 House of Representatives candidates.

First Daily recalls that the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, reserved judgment in a suit filed by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the party’s interim National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Turaki (SAN).
