Kano Hisbah Bans Mobile Movie Downloading Business Across Forty-Four Local Governments

The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced a statewide ban on the mobile movie downloading business, popularly known as “downloading,” across all 44 local government areas of the state.

The Acting Commander-General of the board, Mujahid Aminuddeen, disclosed the decision in a voice message circulated to journalists, saying the measure is aimed at protecting public morality, promoting acceptable values and ensuring compliance with Islamic teachings.

According to Aminuddeen, investigations conducted by the board revealed that many operators of the business distribute films and videos containing content that contradicts Islamic principles, local cultural values and accepted moral standards.

“Our findings show that this business contributes to the spread of films and videos that contain content contrary to religion, our culture and good morals.

That is why we have decided to stop the business to protect young people from moral decay and reduce the circulation of harmful content,” he said.

The Hisbah chief directed all individuals engaged in the business to cease operations immediately, warning that the board would strictly enforce the directive.

He stated that anyone found operating the business after the announcement would face legal consequences.

“We are calling on all operators of this business to comply with this directive. Anyone caught violating the ban will face the full weight of the law,” Aminuddeen added.

The Hisbah Board said the action forms part of its broader campaign to promote moral discipline and curb the circulation of materials it considers harmful to society, particularly among young people.
