The Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to grant bail to a man accused of plotting multiple terrorist attacks on schools across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that the defendant, John Agbo, should remain in custody after the prosecution presented its fourth witness and closed its case.
Agbo is facing charges bordering on terrorism and cybercrime over allegations that he planned attacks targeting schools, as well as their pupils and teachers, within the FCT.
In her ruling, Justice Abdulmalik held that the defence failed to provide sufficient assurance that the defendant would not abscond if released on bail. She subsequently ordered that Agbo be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
During the proceedings, a Department of State Services (DSS) operative testified on the investigation carried out by the agency, detailing how Agbo and some of his alleged collaborators were tracked.

The witness also presented an audio-visual recording of Agbo’s interview with DSS investigators. The court admitted the recording into evidence before it was played in open court.
Following the testimony, the prosecution formally closed its case.
The trial was adjourned until September 24, when Agbo is expected to begin presenting his defence.
